She dating the gangster short story
Has Athena gotten herself into more trouble than she can handle?
A story based on two simultaneous generations, about love and timing and how timing could be a bitch.
A variation of Bernardino's love story between Athena (Kathryn Bernardo) and Kenji (Daniel Padilla), set in the 90's instead of the novelette's original 2004 timeline, is sandwiched within the beginnings of the blossoming romance between Athena's niece and Kenji's son, who are also played by Bernardo and Padilla.
The niece and the son have been serendipitously forced into a mission to reunite middle-aged Athena and Kenji (played by Hihintayin Kita sa Langit's Zulueta and Gomez respectively) who have been separated by mysterious circumstances.
Now, not only does she have to deal with dirty looks from the girls in school who want Kenji for themselves, but her supposed boyfriend is getting on her nerves.
He's hotheaded, never seems to agree with her on anything—and everything about him screams gangster.
It all started when 17-year-old Athena Dizon (Kathryn Bernardo) unwittingly plays a trick on resident heartthrob and bad boy, Kenji de los Reyes (Daniel Padilla).
I have to agree with Mj when he said that Daniel Padilla wasn't monotone.
"He also mentioned the exhibited growth shown by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as actors.
The undeniable chemistry radiated further, this time without the need for pick up and other cheesy lines.
The movie is in Tagalog and English and I personally being a non-Filipino speaker, didn’t have much problem understanding it, thanks to English subtitles.
The very idea of having the movie being a narrated story of a father and his love story with the son’s love story in the current generation simultaneously was a great concept which I personally seem to love.
She’s Dating the Gangster is a Pinoy film directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, starring Kathryn Bernardo, who plays young Athena Dizon/ Kelay Dizon and Daniel Padilla, who plays young Kenji Delos Reyes/ Kenneth Delos Reyes.
